Reports this morning are claiming that striker Jon Stead's transfer to Blackpool has broken down as the two parties were unable to agree personal terms.
It is understood that Town and newly promoted Blackpool agreed a fee of around £200.000 for the former Sheffield United striker, but the player was unable to agree terms with the Seasiders in a similar turn of events which saw Stead reject a similar bid from Bristol City earlier in the week.
Stead was one of eight players who was told in the summer that he could leave Portman Road by manager Roy Keane but now looks set to stay for the time being unless another club comes in for the former Sunderland striker.
Elsewhere it is reported that former Town boss George Burley is closing in on signing Republic of Ireland under 21 midfielder Owen Garvan and the player could depart Portman Road before the end of the weekend.
Additionally, Town appear to be closing in on the signing of Sunderland glovesman Marton Fullop, who it is understood is close to agreeing personal terms with the club after a week in which little progress was made and at one point it was thought the deal could be off.
Meanwhile Leeds are reported to have joined the chase to sign unhappy Cardiff striker Michael Chopra. The former Newcastle marksman revealed earlier in the week he was unhappy with circumstances in Wales and would look for a move should the financial crisis at the Bluebirds not be lifted soon.
